Why Direct Seeding?
There’s no shortage of seeding gear on the market — but building a drill that works for you and genuinely performs in Australian paddocks, seasons and soils takes more than a catalogue and a price list.
At Direct Seeding, zero-till farming isn’t a trend — it’s our foundation. From our family history, deeply rooted in farming, contracting and rural communities, the practices and values of farming are proudly part of Stewart’s identity and way of working. We have also learned that the agricultural industry stands at a critical juncture where traditional farming practices have to be reimagined to meet the dual challenges of increasing food production and conservation to preserve environmental sustainability.
We’re a small, Australian family business with deep, practical experience in no-till and precision seeding systems. Our name is on every machine we build, and our reputation matters — that’s why we stand behind our work and our customers for the long haul.
We pride ourselves on building long-term relationships with our growers, not just one-off sales. Many of our customers become repeat clients and trusted partners, because they know we take a genuine farmer-first approach — listening carefully, designing around real-world constraints, and supporting growers well beyond delivery day.
We’re never far away when you need us. Whether it’s a last-minute parts order, giving your bar a facelift with retrofit discs, helping you track down second-hand gear, organising transport logistics, help finding a contractor nearby, or jumping on a quick FaceTime for a calibration refresher — we’re always just a phone call or WhatsApp away.
And when clients send someone on the town run for parts, we’ve got you covered and love a visit! We always welcome our growers and community members from near and far to drop into the sheds to say hello, have a cuppa or yarn about farming!
Stewart and the Direct Seeding team understand the pressure that comes with perfect seeding conditions or rain on the forecast. Timing matters. That’s why we do everything we can to help our clients keep machines running smoothly during seeding and get it in the ground when it counts.
Just as importantly, Stewart has always believed that strong regional communities sit at the heart of Australian agriculture. Growing up in a small country town, he experienced firsthand what community really means — neighbours lending a hand, volunteers stepping up, shared meals and stories, and everyone showing up for their local club. That sense of connection, care and community has stayed with him and many of our staff who also grew up on family farms.
It’s why Direct Seeding proudly supports local sporting clubs and community events that bring people together and create a genuine sense of belonging. For many of our growers and their families, these connections are just as important as what happens in the paddock. Backing farmers and regional communities isn’t just something we do — it’s part of our core values, and how we operate today.
